Today was a day Arleen was dreading. We made our way to Cape Horn. From there we had to cross Drake Passage. We were going to put Arleen’s sea sick pills to the test.
As it turned out, no major weather made the pills unnecessary. The passage was remarkably smooth.
Cape Horn is named after the city of Horn in the Netherlands by the Captain who first sailed around it.
See, calm sea.
Even though the weather was calm, we did experience squalls. These were mostly rain, but included some hail. During one of the hail squalls, we got hail-bows. You can see that the bow continues into the water. This is not a problem with the picture….it actually did.
So, we left the southern hemisphere, and headed out to Antarctica. Wow.
