CASABLANCA VALLEY, CHILE

1 22

We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the company we bought our trip through is part of a consortium that is taking us on up to 3 excursions this trip.  We had no idea this was going to happen.

The first excursion too us out of Valparaiso, over the coastal range of hills, into the Casablanca Valley.  Here we went to 2 different wineries.  We got tours of both workings.  We also got tastings of 3 wines at each winery.  We only found one wine that Arleen like.   Duane was not very fond of any of them.  Usually when you visit wineries and they are selling their wines, the prices are not cheap.  Well the wine we liked was $5 each, so we bought 2.  We fell asleep on the bus ride back to the ship and didn’t stay awake much after arriving in our cabin.

The seas were rather rocky, but the pills worked and we both slept well.

This is what the valley looks like.  It looks just like the grape growing area in southern California near Warner Springs.  We used to go there on vacations, to play golf.

The grapes will be ready to pick in 2-4 months.
