GLACIERS IN DARWIN CHANNEL AND USHUAIA, ARGENTINA

1 29

This may be difficult to see.  It is a panoramic view.  In the right  valley is a glacier.

We woke this morning to the sound of the announcer saying that we were at, not near, but at the first of our glaciers for today.  Well, I didn’t know that we could put on so much clothing so quickly.  But here are the pictures of the glaciers we saw today.

OK, so this is a waterfall.  We saw tons of them.  This is typical.

Yes, the color is right.  Blue.

Well, another one slipped in ;)  Notice that today was very cloudy and misty and rainy, so the mountains were obscured.  Maybe tomorrow will be clearer.

Ushuaia is a really cute town.  It has more German type buildings than we saw in Punta Arenas.

It is the southern most city of any significant size in the world.  (they are being politically correct and leaving out all the small towns that might be souther.)

In the states we have Dollar Stores.  In China they have 2 yuan Stores (60 cents).  But here, they have Free Stores.

We found out that the items in the store were NOT Free.  It was just another duty free shop.  Too Bad.

So, we now leave for Antarctica.  We are very excited and do not expect to get any sleep until we reach the Falklands.  During the day, we will be watching icebergs and wildlife.  During the 2 hour darkness, we will be looking for aurora australias.

So, until later…..your penguins.

Wow. I think I want to take my next trip to Chili. What months are their summer? Love the pix; please keep posting. Are their more penguin pix?
Glad you're having such a great time-you must be for a Friedman to be getting up so early! Glad the ship has so many activities. Could be boring if it was too much of the same thing, but doesn't look like it. Love ya, Deb and Dan

Hey Arleen, I checked out your "More Photos" link and saw your other albums. It would be great if you put the date in the name of the album along with the port so we could see which ones were newer posts. I liked all your Galapagos photos. Don't you just love the Sally Lightfoot crabs against the black lava rock? Makes for great photos.

Oh my goodness, what a vacation! This is Jen, Dennis O's daughter-in-law. (Dennis from barbershop.) He sent me a link to your travels and I am green with envy but more so, so looking forward to reading future dates on your blog. Please keep it coming! Katie and I are traveling vicariously through your postings & pics. :)

Dennis always sends Katie (granddaughter) postcards of animals and pictures of Montrose & Ouray. Katie eats breakfast with the animal postcards so she can have breakfast with Cookie. We are reading your blog together and rooting on the team of Duane & Arleen!
